Battles unfold automatically, but you can always select character cards at the bottom of the screen to adjust your strategy.
During the battle, you can check each character's status bar at the top of the screen. You can also use the rewards you earn to improve your characters' skills and access new areas of the map from the main menu. As you fight, you can also combine gems to get chests filled with tons of useful resources.
